What are those granular white things on the bottom of Thomas’ English Muffins? And why are they there?
Does anybody not just brush them off?

Corn meal?
[edited 10/23] Sometimes bakers will put corn meal on the bottom to prevent breads from sticking, usually freeform loaves and such, not those in loaf/muffin/roll pans. It does seem like there’s a lot of it on English muffins especially.
For some reason I thought this would provoke more speculation and commentary that it did, at least concerning the brush-off factor. But in any event (and as usual), one only has to type the appropriate phrase into the Magic Box to get the answer. It’s farina: http://www.gwbakeries.com/faqs.cfm#brand4question2
